Translated by Floris Kalman (2008)
Dearest,
I'm not a poet.
I'm a person full of sorrow and death
Like you, like all of us –
Of skin and bone, of flesh and blood.
I speak softly
the better to be heard.
I tell about myself and about you,
That is to say – about everyone,
About the world,
Which is concealed and disguised
And beautiful,
Like you.
Dearest,
In beauty there is more sorrow than joy.
It is like a clear wind,
That comes and vanishes
Like me, like you, like all of us.
In deep forests of doom
I seek a path to myself, to you,
To the world,
That sings and dies and blooms —
You are beautiful.
I love you.
Is this a poem?
No. |
